Description
You will first get an active tour through the lush spring fields at a local farm. You will spend some time with the Farmer getting a roots perspective of how any applicable CSA and/or U-Pick programs work and how the farm now plays a vital role in the health of the community. You will also hear about going solar and other efficiencies that make sustainable family farming operations even better. As a treat you will sample some small seasonal produce with the opportunity to take some home.
After leaving the farm, you will travel to Coos Head Food Co-op where you will delight in some seasonal samples while getting an in depth tour of our local co-op that was established in 1971. We will be taking the scare out of tackling the bulk section and tour the store, quite literally, one department at a time. Students are encouraged to attend Sugar Blues and Eating for Energy to maximize the potential value of the field trip.
