Updates on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

SOUTHWESTERN'S COOS AND CURRY CAMPUSES REMAIN CLOSED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. Staff will continue to assist students virtually via phone, online and email. Any on-campus interaction or in-person classes will adhere to strict social distancing guidelines, in accordance with state and local guidance. FACE COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED (see below for details).

Fall Term 2020: September 12 - November 25

Fall term started Monday, September 14. The college started fall term two weeks early this year to better serve students during the COVID-19 situation. Full details in the press releaseMost classes take place online. Just like Summer term, there are a handful of CTE classes (i.e. nursing, culinary, welding) taking place in person.

On Campus? Face coverings required! Here's what to expect...

First, ask yourself if you can accomplish your task virtually via phone, email, Zoom or online. Remember, our campuses are closed to the general public. If you are a student and must be on campus, come prepared to follow the below guidelines. FACE COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED!!! If you have questions, concerns or do not believe you are able to adhere to the guidelines for any reason, contact an appropriate staff member prior to coming to campus (see contact information below).

  1. Daily Health Check. Anyone coming to campus is required to perform a COVID-19 Daily Self-Check. Students assigned to a “Healthy Roster / SAFER Workplace” screening are expected to complete their check-ins daily:
    • Temperature check – Anyone with an elevated temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or greater is not to come on campus.
    • Symptom check – Remain home if you are ill or showing symptoms such as cough, fever or chills, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing.
    • Exposure check – Remain home if you have been exposed to COVID-19 within the preceding 14 days.
  2. Social Distance. It's simple! Remain at least 6 feet apart.
  3. Face Coverings. Masks or FACE COVERINGS ARE REQUIRED statewide for offices and indoor public spaces and in outdoor public spaces. Not sure if a face covering is required? Keep it on! It’s best to err on the side of caution.
    • People with a disability or medical condition may request accommodation from the college if they cannot wear one.
    • Students should contact the Director of Disability Services (541-888-1578) who will work with vulnerable students with concerns.
    • Face coverings are also required to be worn while exercising in the Recreation Center.
